The Warm Earth (intro)
03:27
|
|||
The trees, they sing songs and the wild wind bows.
Carrying the leaves, whistling, singing a song of the sun–
and everything is the way it’s supposed to be.
The tall grasses bow in the power of the warm earth breathing life.
Let me sing a song with you and blow my air into you, singing:
“I am one
with it all
I am one with you.
We are one
with it all,
You are one with me."

Dirt
02:55
|
|||
We came from the ground and we're all made of dirt
My skin is rough and it's one with the earth
We circle the sun from the top of a hill
Our limbs to the sky in a wild, wide world
From the air in the clouds to the sand the sea
Everything's trembling and all breaking free
From the dirt in the ground to the tops of the trees
Everything's quaking in tandem with me
And when the moon breaks and we're left wondering why,
A glowing deep pull pulls our limbs to the sky
As if God himself put his eye in the clouds
'Cause he's watching us all as we figure it out

We Glowed
03:51
|
|||
My blood runs dry In the face of the moon
Face the sky and taste the air
Straighten these bones with a broad, deep pull
Shoulder to boulder, we glow and glow
The man on the moon was a wavering flag
Our pumping hearts glowed right back
Straighten these bones to the broad, deep expanse
Glowing in our hearts, the longing never ends

Towers
04:10
|
|||
If people find happiness wherever they may lie,
why am I so unhappy here?
The trees, I find, don't sing anymore— they just cry and creak,
Wavering like flags of pure defeat.
Do you hear that droning hum screaming through the trees— the ever-present industrial machine?
Some nights it seems quieter, and some nights it roars loud—
On this night it's shaking the whole world.
And you're dead.
And all that was has been forgotten, everything is still.
Telephone towers rusting in the field.
And the trees, they don't sing anymore— they just cry and creak,
Wavering all in their suffering.
Cause they're dead.
